Silk Suits for Men

By Victor R. Santerino

The tailors of Hong Kong are world-famous. You may have seen films depicting past eras showing a Chinese businessman wearing an intricately embroidered suit made from silk, typically cream-colored. Formely, men's silk suits were only for the rich. They were warm in winter, cool in summer. That Chinese businessman from the film would be wearing a similar suit, only lighter, in the summer, because silk breathes and allows you to stay cool.

Today, silk suits are not just for the rich. There is nothing quite so refined and classy than a man wearing a sharply crafted silk suit on a summer evening.

The art of business has definitely gone through some major change, and with that so has changed the suit men wore to their pace of industry. Affordability came into play, and wool combined with silk offered warming and cooling capabilities at a much cheaper cost, thus creating the smart suit.

It's a no secret that an untainted silk suit will fabricate the finest cut and hang, but it was also no secret that this type of suit was reserved for only those with deep pockets. Silk combined with wool created a fine suit for men at a practical price.

Men's suits made from pure silk being both expensive and difficult to fabricate, have by tradition been hand crafted by only the finest tailors. These suits were incredibly expensive, but would last foreverassuming the wearers body stayed the same shape forever!

Modern times are different. A silk suit, despite still being considered a luxury item is much more affordable to the masses. Designs have altered. Business and social suits can be made from pure silk, the only difference being the extra touch of class, feel and elegance.

It's still possible to pop into the Hong Kong tailors shop for measuring, return the next day for a fitting and alterations, and have your new silk suit delivered to your hotel room 24 hours later. And at a very affordable price. And this is not confined to Hong Kong. This type of service is now available all around the world.

Things are very different than the days of the Chinese businessman you saw in the movies, wearing the large silk suit. Today anyone, with little effort, can find a tailor who makes men's silk suits.
