Mineral Lip Gloss Effects

By Marilyn Etzel

Mineral makeup was first introduced for the cheeks and eyes. You might have been wondering about your lips. It seemed a shame to use healthy minerals everywhere but your lips. Now, you can include your lips in the mineral makeup line with mineral lip glosses to complement your beautiful lips.

You might be thinking that mineral cosmetics are powders. How are you going to apply powders to your lips? It's true that most mineral makeup is a pressed or loose powder created from natural earth minerals.

Mineral powder can be used on the lips as well as other areas of the face. You can mix different colors to create never-before-seen shades for the cheeks, eyes and even your lips. The natural earth minerals found in these powders are applied to lipsticks and lip glosses to extend their wear.

Mineral lip gloss

Mineral lip gloss is soft and fluid for your lips just like a traditional lip gloss. Natural ingredients such as beeswax, natural oils and natural nut or fruit butters are used to create rich colors. But let's not forget the mineral components: titanium oxide, zinc oxide, mica and iron oxides (for color).

You can find lipsticks and lip glosses that don't use beeswax. Vegans object to beeswax in their cosmetics. This way, they can still have the healthiest makeup products around. Animals are not used in mineral makeup testing. There are no synthetic preservatives present either.

Choosing a lip gloss

Choosing a lip gloss is just like choosing a lipstick. First, you want a color that will complement your skin tone for day wear. The best look of beauty is to enhance the amazing features that you already have. Mineral cosmetics do that quite well.

In the evening, you can take the color up a notch just like you do with your eye shadow. Mix other mineral powder with clear mineral gloss to create a new color just for you. Since the mineral powders contain the same mineral properties, it is okay to do so. Mineral powders can also be mixed and used wet to create new colors.

Applying mineral lip gloss

Mineral lip gloss can be applied in the traditional way. You start with the lower lip and apply it smoothly across and then follow the natural lip line of your upper lip to complete the application. Lip gloss is applied with a natural or synthetic lip brush. It is thin enough for precise application.

If you want to accentuate your lip line, use some mineral powder in a shade similar to your lip gloss. Mix a little powder with a couple drops of water and apply with a lip liner brush. Add your mineral makeup last.

Like we said above, mineral powders can be wetted and applied to the lips. Clear mineral lip gloss can be applied over the powder for a ravishing new look.

Mineral lip gloss goes on smooth without the bleeding effect. It lasts all day long and keeps lips supple and moist not dried out.
